Lemonade Anyone?

Children organized a lemonade stand for HCWS.

While attending the Cancer Relay for Life fundraiser with her mother, 9-year-old Liza Picini met a girl who was raising money for animal shelters by having a neighborhood lemonade and cookie sale.

Liza thought this was a great idea and decided to organize her own lemonade stand. She and her mother, Lora researched local animal charities and selected Heaven Can Wait Animal Society as the beneficiary of their event.

Lemonade anyone?

Liza and her younger sister Marie, age 6, put the plan in motion.

Lora said, “Our good friends, the Turners, volunteered their front lawn, and their children, Cole (age 9) and Faith (age 6) joined the team.  Another neighbor, Michael Spriggs (age 10) joined in, and the Lemonade Stand came to life.”

The kids raised over $125 in just two and a half hours through the generosity of neighbors in the Anthem community.   People stopped to buy a drink and hear the kids talk about Heaven Can Wait.

Lots of hard work on a hot day.

Lora said, “We are so proud of these kids…it’s great to get them started on learning how to ‘give back’ to the community at a young age.”

From all of the cats and dogs at Heaven Can Wait, a big thanks to Liza, Marie, Cole, Faith and Michael!  We are proud of you too!!
