Dazzling New Murals Displayed at the HCWS Spay and Neuter Clinic

The Heaven Can Wait Spay and Neuter Clinic recently received a series of fun and colorful murals from AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Artists) to brighten the walls of our clinic.  The fun paintings of cats and dogs were part of a competition for art students, sponsored by the professional organization.

The winning design was submitted by Stephanie Barr, who is a graphic arts student at the Art Institute of Las Vegas.  Paula Asadurian, who is one of the new volunteer reporters for HCWS, interviewed Stephanie about her inspiration for the design.

At a recent visit to the Heaven Can Wait Spay and Neuter Clinic I had the pleasure of meeting a creative young woman whose family has a background in art and design.  Stephanie Barr has been a student of the Art Institute of Las Vegas for a year; her focus being in graphic design and advertising.

During a recent project sponsored by AIGA, art students were asked to submit designs for the HCWS clinic.  The best design would be showcased as a mural on the walls of the clinic.  Stephanie’s design won.

Her submission was a charming picture of a loveable Boxer.  When asked about her inspiration for the piece, Stephanie told me that Bo the Boxer is her friend’s pet.  Because of her talented design, she was asked to produce five more pieces.

The design work took two weeks to develop and the result is a series of colorful, vibrant and fun murals of cats and dogs.  The murals were painted by art students from AIGA.

Stephanie and her husband, Travis, have a white Labrador Retriever named Sonata and a chocolate Lab named Symphony.  I encourage you to go to the clinic at 546 N. Eastern Avenue (Suite 175) and view the artwork.  And while you are there, be sure to say hello to the wonderful people who work tirelessly to spay and neuter all of the cats and dogs that come to the clinic.  Stephanie Barr and Heaven Can Wait – ROCK!

The HCWS Clinic is a low-cost, high-quality spay and neuter clinic open to the public Monday – Thursday.  Please go to the HCWS Clinic site  to schedule an appointment.  Please contact Animal Control if you have questions about the new mandatory Spay and Neuter Laws in the Las Vegas Valley.

Each year HCWS spays and neuters between 9,000 – 12,000 cats and dogs in order to stop the senseless euthanizing of 30,000 animals in Las Vegas annually.
