“Artists For A Cause” To Benefit HCWS

You’re invited to attend a very special event hosted by Insert Coin(s) Interactive Nightlife.  The unique downtown video game bar is presenting “Artists For A Cause” on Wednesday, November 14 with proceeds benefiting Heaven Can Wait Animal Society.  

Artists For A Cause will be a fun-filled evening of video game inspired artwork, cocktails and eclectic music.  The reception is from 8 – 10p.m. at Insert Coin(s), 512 Fremont Street.  The event is free to attend and reservations are not required.

Featured artists will include: Juan Muniz, Ruckus, Obeyjef, Brian DeLeon and Bree DeLano. Music by DJ Lefto.

A silent auction benefiting Heaven Can Wait Animal Society and The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation will also be held.

Artists For A Cause is the brainchild of longtime Heaven Can Wait supporter and artist, Bree DeLano who wanted to inform the public about our group’s mission and our goal to stop pet overpopulation in Las Vegas.

Giant Warehouse Sales Getting Bigger and Better

Save The Date For The Holiday Luncheon And Special Guests

Save The Date!  Heaven Can Wait’s annual Holiday Luncheon will soon be here.  This year’s event will be even more extraordinary thanks to our Honorary Luncheon Chairs – Terry and Taylor Fator.  There will be a special performance by Terry and Winston.

The luncheon provides attendees with the opportunity to do some early holiday shopping, bid on live and silent auction items and enjoy great entertainment and fine dining, all while mingling with other like-minded friends of animals.

Proceeds from the event help Heaven Can Wait Animal Society continue our community programs, our spay and neuter clinic and stop pet overpopulation in Las Vegas.  We hope you will join us for this great event!

12th Annual Lose A Pound Memory Walk

It’s hard to believe, but another Lose-a-Pound Memory Walk has come and gone. This year’s festivities were a howling success.

The day began for our volunteers at 7am, with the setting up of booths and stages. And what a lovely fall Sunday it was.

Wayne Bunker Family Park was a flush with vendors, dogs, Memory Collars, and even Elvis.

Some of our terrific vendors included Pet Psychics offering paw readings, Bone Appetite, A Pet’s Bakery and A Purrfurred Pet Care Service. We wish to thank the many vendors who donated to HCWS during the event.

Other businesses that helped raise money on Sunday were Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods, who donated gift baskets which were raffled off to guests who purchased winning tickets.

Other than the Memory Walk, which took place on the park’s surrounding walking track from 10 to Noon, our event held our wildly popular Halloween Pet Costume Contest. This year’s first place prize went to “Fat Elvis”, an absolutely adorable Basset Hound. “Schitzo” held the honor of this year’s Silliest Pet Trick. Our friends at Smarty Paws set up an obstacle course for all of our four-legged guests to try.

Team Misfits won this year’s distinction as the team that raised the most money for our beloved charity, pulling in a stunning $3500. The volunteers at Misfits used social media and networking as their means of raising such a remarkable sum. Congratulations Misfits. Your perpetual efforts are greatly appreciated.

Our appreciation also goes to the teams from Quest Diagnostics, NV Energy and In Corp who worked to raise donations for HCWS.

The 12th Annual Memory Walk was a resounding success and woofs and woofs of fun for all.

There are many more folks we wish to thank for their support in making our annual fundraising event such an important part of our mission to prevent pet-overpopulation in our community.

Thank you to all of our faithful volunteers who share their time tirelessly, all year around. Thank you to all of our Memory Walk participants and our vendors. Thank you to the City of Las Vegas and Wayne Bunker Park, to all of our guests, our DJ and emcee, “Elvis” and to In Corp.com for mingling with the crowd and providing home baked treats to our most important guests, for without whom, none of this would have been possible; our loveable, furry family members.

Our next Lose a Pound Memory Walk is less than twelve months away and we can’t wait to see you all again, then.

MGM Resorts’ Employees Donate Through Payroll Deduction

Thanks to animal loving employees from MGM Resorts International, Heaven Can Wait was the recipient of a generous donation.  Employees contributed $10,792 as part of the company’s Voluntary Charitable Payroll Deduction plan. This charitable donation demonstrates the kind nature of so many employees within MGM Resorts, and shows how the importance of helping animals is alive in so many individuals in the Las Vegas community.

MGM Resorts allows its employees to make automatic charitable contributions as a part of their regular payroll deductions. The program helps a variety of non-profits, and Heaven Can Wait is honored to be included in that list.

Heaven Can Wait is constantly on a mission to help control pet overpopulation in Las Vegas through our spay/neuter programs and by increasing awareness among Las Vegas locals. This generous donation will help support the financial needs of these programs and displays proof that our message about too many homeless pets is being heard loud and clear.

Great donation opportunities like this one are not just limited to MGM Resorts’ employees. Heaven Can Wait is also part of the Combined Federal Payroll Deduction program that gives all government employees the chance to easily and automatically contribute a portion of their paychecks to our cause. By signing up for this easy and important program, federal employees are able to follow the generous model of MGM Resorts’ workers and provide much needed funding for Heaven Can Wait, its programs and the cats and dogs in our care.

Yoga With Rover Special Event

Yoga with Rover has become an annual event at Sherry Goldstein’s Yoga Sanctuary.

Once a year, Sherry Goldstein’s Yoga Sanctuary opens its doors to canines who long for serenity, peace and well-being through the art of yoga.  Actually “Yoga with Rover” is a fun annual special event hosted by Yoga Sanctuary to benefit the homeless cats and dogs helped by Heaven Can Wait Animal Society. 

Each year Yoga Sanctuary invites students and the public to bring their dogs to a workshop that demonstrates yoga poses specifically designed for canines.  Taught by a therapist trained in doggie yoga, the dogs have fun hanging out and bonding with their owners.

This year’s 1 ½ hour workshop raised more than $600 for our organization.  All of us at Heaven Can Wait thank Sherry Goldstein’s Yoga Sanctuary and those who attended the workshop for their support in ending pet overpopulation in Las Vegas.

‘Community Awareness Pawty’ To Benefit HCWS

Join Heaven Can Wait Animal Society at a “Community Awareness Pawty” for dogs and their humans. The theme is TGIF – “Thank Goodness I’m Fixed.”  $5.00 donation at the door and dogs are welcome!

When: Thursday, September 27 at 6p.m.

Where: Bogey’s at 7770 W. Ann Rd, Las Vegas

What: An evening with happy hour cocktails, raffle, prizes and the opportunity to meet two Las Vegas animal rescue groups.

Moving Company Cares About Homeless Pets

Pets waiting for adoption, like Baby pictured above, have been helped by moving company TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, Las Vegas.

Brieann Gaylord volunteered with animal rescue groups in her hometown, so it was quite natural for her to find a local group to work with when she moved to Las Vegas.  The Heaven Can Wait Facebook page led her to our doors and along with her came the perks of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Las Vegas, the moving company where Gaylord is the marketing director.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK pride themselves in being the “Movers Who Care” and for the past two months the company has shown us how much they care about homeless cats and dogs by donating their professional services and manpower to pick-up heavy items donated to the HCWS monthly Warehouse Sale.  Proceeds from the event go directly to Heaven Can Wait’s effort to stop pet overpopulation in Las Vegas through our spay and neuter clinic.

The skill of the movers from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK came in handy last month when a 26 ft. storage unit full of furniture was donated to HCWS.  Employees emptied heavy wood furniture that included an armoire, a dining room table and other household items.

Everything was safely removed and delivered to Heaven Can Wait just in time for our August sale.

Gaylord, who is the proud guardian of a rescued American Stafford terrier named Reese, said the moving company set a goal to help several local nonprofit organizations.

Local Realtor Is An Angel For Cats

Angel fundraiser holding one of her 3 cats. “I am determined to raise TONS of money for Heaven Can Wait through my real estate work,” said animal lover Xiao-Qing.

When Las Vegas realtor, Xiao-Qing Lu of Keller Williams Realty moved to town in 2004 she didn’t waste any time getting involved with local animal rescue groups and sharing her passion to help homeless cats and dogs. Lucky for Heaven Can Wait she found her way to our organization.

As the guardian of 3 cats and 2 foster kittens, Xiao-Qing was shocked to learn about the tragic life of feral cats in Las Vegas. She knew she had to get involved and soon she was trapping cats and working in the Heaven Can Wait feral cat clinic.

After a meeting with Harold Vosko, HCWS president and Dr. David Henderson, HCWS medical director Xiao-Qing realized the best way she could help control feral cat colonies was through her professional businesss skills as a real estate agent.

Xiao-Qing switched her focus to fundraising for Heaven Can Wait by making a contribution of $500 each time she sells a property.  Her generosity has brought in much needed donations to our organization and C5 (Community Cat Coalition of Clark County) who works hand-in-hand with us.

In addition, Xiao-Qing has worked alongside longtime supporter Laura Eisenberg on several special events to raise even more funds for HCWS.  Heaven Can Wait Animal Society sends out a special thanks to Xiao-Qing for all she does for homeless animals!

Thor the foster kitten stayed with Xiao-Qing and is now at the HCWS adoption center. “This little guy is the only kitten I know who wants to be on the top of the world.”
